‘Some days we aren’t here at all’: Small business’ unpredictable hours angers time-keepers of the internet

I wish we could return to a more rough-and-tumble way of life. Like the days of the Wild West, or maybe just the Wild West of the movies. I wish I was on a first-name basis with my local barkeep, and I wish he knew just how I liked my sasparilla. I wish I had a buddy who made the bread and another buddy who caught the fish. I wish we all got together on Fridays for a potluck with our friends who grew the vegetables. 

I wish we lived in the kind of community I imagine we lived in in days gone by. But no, we live in a world with DoorDash and Instagram and everyone looking at their phones all the time. So that said, I'm on the side of the small business featured in this Reddit post. To me, it embraces La Dolce Vita. Regular hours are for chumps.

    Preface • 5h "what's the problem with the restaurant?" That one person: nothing our food is amazing, everyone says it's the best and we are amazing! Everyone else: well we are only open 4 hours a week, the food is all frozen, the bosses don't know what they are doing (they don't have any background in restaurants), everyone fights with each other, and we have moldy meat in the walk in.

    1521.2h We had one here that was "Open most of the time" I would get so irritated driving an hour (live in the boonies) only to find that I had arrived in the "some of the time" they were closed. And of course there was no chance of them answering the phone....

She reprimanded my wife the last time we ate there for calling after 5:00 to make a reservation for the same evening. The time before that we got reprimanded for not making a reservation, despite the fact that there was only one other table in the place.
